'Contourette Roto' Swivel Chair by Alf Svensson for Dux 1960's
Description
Alf Svensson is considered one of the most influential Scandinavian designers of the 20th century. His work is characterized by elegant, functional simplicity and a judicious use of natural materials. During his career, Svensson won numerous prizes for his designs, among which the prestigious Lunning Prize in 1968. His work is included in the collections of several museums, like the National Museum in Stockholm and the Museum of Art and Design in New York.
For Dux, Svensson designed this slim lounge chair with a 360° swivel base. Due to its ergonomic design and premium upholstery, the 'Contourette' turned out to be incredibly comfortable; utterly perfect for reading or, should the need strike you, a quick nap on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
The lamp shown in the photo's is also for sale. Consult our 'Lighting' section to purchase it.
L65 x H95 x D80 cm
Condition
The chair is in perfect (vintage) condition, without any apparent wear. The only thing to be noted is that the chrome base has slightly loosened through time, but this is not very remarkable nor disturbing. It can certainly be resolved, but that would mean opening up part of the fabric, which we chose not to do, as the fabric is in such great condition.
