Description

The first thing to notice about the beautiful vintage Beni Mguild rugs is the unique layering of colours: each shade has been carefully laid over the next and worn through time, so that they blend together beautifully. Each of these rugs has a story to tell and is full of symbolism. The shapes and details woven into these rugs is what make every Beni Mguild totally unique. Beni Mguild wool rugs are hand-knotted in the heart of the Atlas mountains, by Berber women from the Ait M'Guild tribe. They are known for their high tuft, created especially to offer the tribe members some warmth in the cold, snowy winters in this mountain region regurarly faces, as they help to keep feet and floors up to temperature.

Please note that all our rugs are secondhand (-20 years old) or vintage (+20 years old), meaning they may show traces of wear and use, as well as some minor imperfections. This is normal and part of the charm of a true vintage Berber rug. Should you wish to inspect the rug of your choice more closely, you are welcome to make an appointment to visit our stock.
